The hotel location is great, being in very close proximity to the shops, bars and restaurants in town. My reasoning for the 3 stars is that the hotel is now looking very tired. Having stayed here regularly for the past 12 years from initially being a Novotel, to Mercure to Ibis, its probably about time Accor put some money into the place. Even more reason now the boom has well & truly eased.I cant fault the staff, whether front office, restaurant, kitchen or housekeeping, they all do a fantastic job with what appears to be little investment from head office. It might be a mining town essentially, but with stiff competition such as the Ranges, the furnishings and bathrooms in the rooms could do with updating from the early 1980s to at least the 2020s.Given the excellent location, it needs sprucing up to make it the premium hotel in the centre of Karratha.
Stayed for one night with the two boys (2 & 4) and found Ibis styles to be quiet, clean and nice and centrally located. Boys both enjoyed playing in the pool and we walked to MacDonalds for dessert. The included breakfast wasn't very exciting, we got there early and there didn't seem to be very much but perhaps they bring out more as the morning goes. The bistro area had a little kids toy section that kept the kids entertained while we waited for breakfast time to begin. Room had a kettle, tea and coffee and a little fridge. Above average rooms, really good food. Good range of options for breakfast as well.If your employer books you here for working away you're doing well.
Built in pool area is good, built in bar/ restaurant is good. Rooms are good. Very close to everything in karratha. If you dont mind not having great, and having good at the expense of saving money. Then this place is for you.
Great understanding staff in all departments. Well equipped kitchen, the restaurants food is nice. Rooms are good, pool well looked after. Ample parking.
